The Israeli Army Radio said that the mini cabinet for political and security affairs in Israel has ratified a plan to establish a security wall on the eastern border with Jordan.

The radio added that the plan includes strengthening control over the wound through settlement foci, farms and training camps.

The radio reported that the plan of the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Army includes the establishment of a multi -layer defensive system along 425 km from the south of the occupied Golan Heights to the north of Eilat.

The radio described the plan as a blow to Iran’s attempts to convert the eastern borders into a terrorist front, as it put it.

“Building the fence is a strategic step against Iran’s attempts to convert the borders to a terrorist front,” the Israel Broadcasting Corporation quoted Israeli Defense Minister, Yisrael Katz, as saying.

The “Times of Israel” newspaper said last April that Israel is determined to start building a new fence along the border with Jordan to stop the smuggling of repeated weapons and drugs, which will cost it 1.4 billion dollars, and it is expected that it will take 3 years.

In August last year, the then Foreign Minister and the current Minister of Defense, Yisrael Katz, called for building a “rapid” security fence along the border with Jordan, accusing Iran of trying to create an “oriental terrorist front” against Israel by smuggling weapons across the Kingdom.

Last November, the Ministry of Defense announced that it had started the preliminary work on the project, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had launched the idea of strengthening the current fence or building a border wall over and over again, so he ordered the year 2023 to build a fence on the entire border “to ensure infiltration” as he ordered army officials and the Ministry of Defense to start planning for that in 2012, and promoted to start building fences loaded with sensors in 2015, and announced a year later. He plans to “surround the entire State of Israel with a fence.

Borders and crossings

Talking about building a wall of Israel with Jordan escalated, after the Al -Lanbi crossing operations on the eighth of last September and the Dead Sea on October 18.

The first operation witnessed the killing of 3 Israelis and the martyrdom of the Jordanian operation’s perpetrator Maher Al -Jazi, and the second witnessed the injury of Israelis and the martyrdom of Jordanian executives Hossam Abu Ghazaleh and Amer Qawas.

The total length of the border between Jordan, Israel and the West Bank is 335 km, of which 97 km with the West Bank, and 238 km with Israel.

Jordan is associated with Israel with 3 border crossings: Sheikh Hussein (the Jordan River from the Israeli side), King Hussein (Al -Lanbi) Bridge and Wadi Araba (Isaac Rabin).

The three crossings operate regularly and their closure is related to security conditions inside Israel, which is what is happening in a limited way, and this was done during the current extermination war on the Gaza Strip.
