Benjamin Netanyahu’s office accuses Hamas of reneging on parts of the deal with the aim of “to extort last-minute concessions.” He did not give further details.
The Israeli cabinet was expected to ratify the deal on Thursday.
Izzat al-Rishq, a senior Hamas official, said the Islamist group “committed to respecting the ceasefire agreement, which was announced by the mediators.”
Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri mentions Israeli assertions without “no basis” and calls on the Trump administration to enforce the agreement. Although it is not yet operational.
The ceasefire agreement reached on Wednesday provides for the release of 33 Hamas hostages over the next six weeks, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The other hostages must be released in a second phase negotiated during the first.
