The war on Gaza was the deadliest on record for media professionals.

Israel’s war on Gaza is the deadliest on record for media workers, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

At least 90 journalists and collaborators have been killed since the start of the conflict on October 7.

The International Federation of Journalists says about three-quarters of all deaths in 2023 occurred in Gaza.

It is mainly Palestinians covering the story, as international media have been prevented from entering the Gaza Strip by the Israeli army.

The last to die was Tel Aviv Tribune’s Samer Abudaqa, who was reporting from a United Nations-run school in the southern town of Khan Younis when she was the target of an attack by drone.

There is growing evidence that the Israeli military is deliberately putting the media directly in the line of fire.

International calls for accountability for the unprecedented assassinations of journalists since October 7 are increasing.
