Iraqi factions announced that they targeted a “vital target” in Israel using “drones” this morning, Sunday, in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” stated in a statement that it “targeted (..) a vital target in our occupied territories using drones,” in “continuation of our approach to resisting the occupation and supporting our people in Gaza.”
The statement came at a time when the Israeli army indicated today, Sunday, that it had “intercepted two suspicious aerial targets on their way from Iraq without causing any casualties,” stressing that they “did not violate Israeli airspace.”
The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” includes factions, the most prominent of which are the Hezbollah Brigades, the Al-Nujaba Brigades, and the Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades, three factions targeted by US sanctions.
In recent months, this formation has announced launching drone attacks on targets in Israel.
Since last April, Israel has confirmed a number of air strikes from the east without pointing the finger at a specific party, saying that it intercepted the drones outside its airspace.
