The Iranian Tasnim Agency said that an Iranian army helicopter was warned of American destroyer after it approached Iran’s miserable waters in the Sea of Oman.
The agency explained that the American destroyer “DJ Fitzgerald” tried to approach Iran’s territorial waters at ten in the morning local time, and the Iranian army responded by sending a helicopter from the navy in the third region, and directed a warning to the American destroyer and demanded it to move away.
She stated that the destroyer threatened to target the Iranian helicopter and asked her to leave the region, but the Iranian pilot continued his mission and repeated warning to move away from Iran’s waters.
The agency noted that after the frequent threat from the American destroyer, the Iranian army’s air defense system entered and issued a decisive warning that the helicopter plane is under full protection from the air defense forces, and that the American ship is obligated to change its path.
She explained that the American destroyer eventually broke up and moved away from Iran’s territorial waters.
The destroyer Fitzgerald was placed in service in 1995, and participated in the invasion of Iraq in 2003, with a length of 154 meters.
The incident comes weeks after American strikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites, as part of a major attack that Israel started and targeted nuclear sites and a number of military leaders and nuclear scientists. Iran has responded by targeting various sites in Israel with ballistic missiles.
