The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Tehran will not send forces to support Lebanon or Palestine, because the resistance in both countries has the necessary capacity to confront Israel, it said, while a senior Iranian official stated that the axis of resistance will continue the confrontation in unconventional ways.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said during his weekly press conference on Monday, “Lebanon and Palestine have the capacity and strength necessary to confront the aggression of the Zionist regime, and there is no need to deploy auxiliary or volunteer Iranian forces.”
Kanaani added, “We have not received any requests and we know that they do not need help from our forces.”
The spokesman stressed that “the usurping Zionist regime will not remain unpunished for the crimes it committed against the Iranian people, the resistance forces, Iranian citizens and soldiers.”
Israel assassinated the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, last Friday in a raid on the southern suburb of Beirut, as part of its largest attack on Lebanon since the 2006 war.
The same raid led to the death of Abbas Nilfroshan, deputy commander of operations of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Resistance in “special” ways
In this context, the head of the Strategic Council for Iranian Foreign Relations, Kamal Kharazi, said that the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah is a great loss, but the axis of resistance will continue the confrontation in special and unconventional ways, as he put it.
The veteran Iranian official pointed out that “the axis of resistance is practically confronting America in its confrontation with Israel.”
On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited Hezbollah’s office in Tehran on Monday to offer condolences to its Secretary-General, according to a statement published on the government’s website.
Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei had confirmed that Nasrallah’s blood “will not be in vain,” and Vice President Mohammad Reza Arif also vowed that this assassination would lead to the demise of Israel.
