A Swedish committee recommended that international adoption be stopped after an investigation revealed a series of violations and monuments dating back to decades.
Sweden is the latest country to review its policies for international adoption operations after the spread of allegations about the presence of unethical practices, especially in South Korea.
The committee was established in 2021 after receiving a report published by the Swedish newspaper “Dagens Niister”, which in detail dealt with the international adoption system, which is complicated in the Scandinavian state.
The recommendations were sent the day before yesterday, Monday, to the Minister of Social Services Camilla and Estson Gunfal.
“The task was to investigate whether there were violations that the Swedish actors were aware of it, or they could have committed it, and they actually committed it.”
“The actors include everyone who has any relationship with international adoption activities, as includes the government, the supervisory body, the organization, municipalities and courts, and the committee concluded that there are violations in the international adoption operations in Sweden.”
