International newspapers and websites covered various topics, most notably an investigation refuting the Israeli narrative regarding what happened in the attack on the displaced persons’ tents in Rafah (southern Gaza Strip), and US President Joe Biden’s options for ending the war in the Strip.

An investigation conducted by the New York Times regarding the Israeli forces’ bombing of tents in Rafah revealed that the Israeli army bombed targets inside a displacement camp that had already been there for months, and sheltered hundreds of people displaced by the war, contrary to the army’s account, which denied the presence of tents in the targeted area. The investigation was based on witnesses, munitions experts, videos, and satellite images.

On the other hand, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted a senior Israeli security official as saying, “No matter how many tactical achievements we achieve, there must be a clear strategic goal, otherwise we will continue moving from one point to another without making a decision.”
The newspaper continued, quoting security officials, “The end of the war is not the end of the fighting. Intelligence information will continue to flow, as will the possibility of an attack from the air or from the ground.”

On another topic, Axios quoted informed sources as saying that Democrats in the House of Representatives are discussing a wide range of potential activities to confront Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech before Congress next month.

He added, “They are preparing to send a strong signal of dissatisfaction with Israel’s military performance, and with Netanyahu’s leadership in particular,” noting that the more moderate Democrats are very frustrated, because Netanyahu’s visit to Congress undermines the work of the Biden administration, and does not respect the Israelis who want Netanyahu to leave.

An analytical article by writer Alon Pinkas, published by Haaretz newspaper, stated that Netanyahu deceived the United States, and that US President Biden now needs to make difficult decisions about how to end the Gaza war.

The writer says that President Biden has only two options, both of which are extremely difficult. “The first is to radically change course and stand up to Netanyahu for the sake of Israel’s security. The second is to announce the disengagement of diplomacy and put an end to American and Israeli losses as well.”

For its part, Newsweek magazine quoted former US State Department official Aaron David Miller as saying that the Palestinian issue did not affect basic American interests in previous decades, as is the case now.
