International newspapers and websites highlighted Israel’s increasing isolation following the decisions of the International Court of Justice to completely and immediately halt military operations on the city of Rafah (south of the Gaza Strip), and the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant.

The Financial Times newspaper opined in an editorial entitled “Netanyahu’s Israel’s Increasing Isolation” that Israel needs responsible and sober leadership more than ever before, something that the current prime minister does not wish to provide, or is unable to provide.”

The editorial stated that Israel is not a signatory to the Charter of the International Criminal Court, and that the International Court of Justice does not have any means to implement its order, “but the fact that Israel found itself in this position confirms the extent to which Netanyahu has become a burden on his country.”

The Jerusalem Post newspaper said in its editorial that the request of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, to issue arrest warrants against Prime Minister Netanyahu and Gallant, “is a stain on Israel’s forehead that will not be erased, regardless of what happens in the future.”

For his part, writer Gideon Levy said in the newspaper “Haaretz”: “Submitting to the order of the International Court of Justice is the last opportunity for Israel to save itself from becoming a pariah state.”

The writer added, “The only way to avoid falling into the abyss is to say yes to the ruling issued by the International Court of Justice last Friday.”

As for the French newspaper Le Monde, it published an article written by Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albarez, in which he said, “Madrid supports the two-state solution to ensure peace and put an end to the recurring cycle of violence in the Middle East, which is the solution that, if irreversible, will make peace irreversible.” In the region.”

The Spanish minister continued that the way to do this is to recognize Palestine as a state and a member of the United Nations, saying, “Spain will recognize the Palestinian state because Israel’s security depends on it.”

The Washington Post focused in an article on what it said was a division between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on the one hand and US President Joe Biden and the Democrats on the other. The article stated that this division had been brewing for years.

The article explained, “Netanyahu’s long-term strategy of allying with the Republican Party caused the American consensus to support Israel to be destroyed.”

He pointed out that the war in Gaza has greatly accelerated this situation, as this division represents a fundamental shift in American policy, according to the article.
