The international press continues to shed light on the developments of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, its repercussions on the regional scene, as well as the extent of Tel Aviv’s need for American military aid.
In this context, the Israeli newspaper “Jerusalem Post” said that the era of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ended, and it reported – based on its sources – that there is a growing belief that Netanyahu’s days at the head of the Likud Party are numbered despite the attempt to form a front to support him.
The newspaper pointed out that “the party’s base believes that Netanyahu will not fulfill his promises to destroy the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and recover all the hostages (prisoners).”
He revealed that members of the Likud Party in the Knesset are working behind the scenes with potential successors to Netanyahu, indicating that the “political explosion” is closer to the surface than it seems, and could happen within two weeks to two months.
In turn, the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” said that the war against Hamas revealed Israel’s need for American aid more than ever before, and revealed a large gap in Israeli weapons production, warning that another war with the Lebanese Hezbollah would mean its need for more American military support.
While this deficiency cannot be remedied soon – the newspaper says – relying on Washington risks giving it a wider scope to intervene in the course of the conflict, and puts Israel in competition with other countries. Such as: Ukraine to secure sufficient weapons and ammunition.
The suffering of Gazans

The British newspaper, The Guardian, highlighted a report by the Committee to Protect Journalists that placed Israel on the list of “the worst jailers of journalists,” and stated that the arrest is an example of the dangers threatening Palestinian journalists in Gaza.
According to the newspaper, the classification places Israel with a notorious group of authoritarian countries that have a history of imprisoning journalists, due to its detention of Palestinian journalists without trial since the beginning of the war in Gaza.
Red Sea crisis
In turn, a report in the British magazine “The Economist” ruled out that US sanctions would lead to changing the behavior of the Ansar Allah Houthi group in the Red Sea, and considered it a weak tool that has proven its failure over the past years in putting pressure on them.
The report indicated that the Houthis can circumvent the sanctions and obtain the necessary resources, and even secure their access to more weapons. The report strengthened its argument by saying that American officials secretly acknowledge that the Houthi threat to maritime shipping will remain.
