International newspapers: Netanyahu is under pressure and America is about to lose the Arab world Programs

International newspapers focused their attention on developments in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, and political developments inside Israel, coinciding with the killing of 4 Israeli soldiers in a new ambush by the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.

The American Wall Street Journal says that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing pressure to make decisive choices regarding the war in Gaza.

According to the newspaper, analysts claim that the Israeli operation in Rafah (south) will soon end with the achievement of its goals, which will constitute an opportunity that Netanyahu must seize to decide what follows.

The newspaper quoted the former commander of the Gaza Division of the Israeli army, Israel Ziv, as saying that it is time for decisions, and Netanyahu is no longer able to evade or delay.

In turn, the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” reported that the killing of 4 Israeli soldiers in Gaza coincided with the Knesset (Parliament) voting to exempt religious Jews from compulsory military service.

The newspaper saw the continuation of voting and the way those present – including Netanyahu – dealt with the situation as one of the worst moments in the history of the Knesset, considering that this vote at times like these “reveals the extent of the estrangement between the people and their elected officials.”

In another context, the British newspaper “The Guardian” quoted a United Nations report that “the violations committed last year against children in Gaza, the West Bank and Israel exceed their counterparts anywhere in the world.”

The report noted that Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories are witnessing an unprecedented expansion and intensity of violations against children.

The French newspaper “Le Figaro” published an investigation from the Kiryat Shmona settlement in light of the tension between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah, and summarized the situation by saying that “the war there has become a fait accompli and life is impossible.”

She pointed out that the settlement was deserted and the shops were closed, revealing that at least 25,000 of the settlement’s residents had abandoned it, while only 3,000 people remained there.

Washington and the Arabs

In turn, the American magazine “Foreign Affairs” said that the United States is about to lose the Arab world, noting that Arab public opinion has turned strongly against Washington since October 7, 2023.

The magazine warned that without a major shift in the American position on the Gaza war, and without smart changes in American policy in the Arab world in the long term, other parties such as China will reap the benefits of the American decline.

For its part, the French magazine “Le Point” said that the French authorities are under pressure to prevent more Israeli military companies and military entities from participating in the upcoming “Eurosatori” exhibition in Paris this month.

The magazine explained that Paris has banned – so far – 74 Israeli security companies that were invited to the exhibition, which is held every two years, noting that France took its decision after the war developments in Rafah, but human rights and humanitarian organizations are pressing to prevent everything related to Israel.
