Major international newspapers continued to shed light on the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip for 70 days and its repercussions on the regional and international scenes, especially its expected repercussions with the escalation of tension between Tel Aviv and Washington.
The Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” warned in an article that Israel would find itself immersed in a war of attrition in the absence of any horizon or plans to end the ground attack on Gaza.
The article talked about increasing fears among Israelis and even within the army – especially among reserve soldiers – that the conflict would prolong in its current form, as the Israeli army does not have much experience in managing it.
The newspaper’s article pointed out that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) is still capable of launching rockets that reach deep into Israel.
In turn, the British newspaper The Times covered reports that, since the beginning of the war on Gaza, the Israeli occupation army has relied heavily on ill-guided missiles.
The use of this type of weapon – according to the newspaper – contradicts Israel’s claims that it is doing everything it can to reduce the harm that may befall civilians, noting that the revelation that came in a leaked American intelligence document came one day after US President Joe Biden spoke of random Israeli bombing in Gaza.
The French newspaper Le Monde said in a report that the massacre caused by the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip turns American support for Israel into increasing alarm.
The report asked about the end of Biden’s policy of embracing Israel. It also summarizes the reasons for the US administration’s concern in the post-war period in Gaza and the role of the Israeli government in strangling the economy of the occupied West Bank.
Regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s assertion that he is more determined to continue fighting until the Hamas movement is eliminated, the Wall Street Journal saw that these statements come at a time when Biden is facing strong opposition because of his support for the Israeli government and his rejection of a ceasefire in Gaza.
In turn, the British newspaper The Telegraph said that Palestinian support for Hamas is increasing after the October 7 attack, despite the high cost of the war on Gaza.
The newspaper’s report is based on the results of a public opinion poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, which showed an increase in Palestinian support for Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza Strip compared to last September.
The newspaper adds that the poll “found that most Palestinians consider the attack a response to the ongoing Israeli attacks against them.”
