International newspapers: Biden preferred to continue his approach of supporting Israel until the end of his rule policy

Israeli and international newspapers focused on the consequences of the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, in addition to the latest developments in the Syrian scene after the fall of the regime of ousted President Bashar al-Assad.

The British newspaper The Times said that the approval of the administration of outgoing US President Joe Biden for an arms deal worth $8 billion for Israel “represents the latest offer of American support, the steadfastness of which Biden has been keen to confirm at every opportunity.”

According to the newspaper, Biden resisted all calls from within the Democratic Party to suspend arms shipments, and preferred to continue his approach until the end, at a time when the war on Gaza shows no signs of its end being near.

In turn, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the security services and various ministries in Israel are preparing to assist soldiers and members of the reserve forces who face the possibility of arrest outside Israel on charges of participating in war crimes inside Gaza.

The newspaper explained that the Israeli soldiers received warnings from the army leadership that they might be subjected to trial outside Israel.

For its part, the Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post saw that residents of the northern settlements are reluctant to return to the areas from which they fled due to the Lebanese Hezbollah attacks, despite the ceasefire.

The newspaper indicated that most of the residents of the areas near the border currently refuse to return, although many families returned even before an agreement was reached with Hezbollah and while the Israeli army was carrying out its ground operation inside Lebanese territory.

Regarding the Syrian issue, the Swiss newspaper Luton said that dreams in Syria are simple and can be achieved, as young people want to return to their homes and live there in peace, and they aspire to a just rule that guarantees a safe life for all Syrians, regardless of their religion, in order to avoid a scenario of chaos and instability.

This came in a report by the newspaper in which it discussed the conditions of many of those it met, saying that they had only known war in their lives in Syria.

In the same context, the British newspaper The Guardian spoke about the hope of Syrian expatriates to return to their country after the fall of the Assad regime, noting that “what they previously saw as a nightmare ended with Assad’s departure.”

According to the newspaper, many of those who were once forced by circumstances to leave want to return, whatever the country’s current shape and situation.
