An investigation by the British newspaper “The Independent” said that US President Joe Biden is complicit in the devastating famine in the Gaza Strip.
The investigation revealed what it considered mistakes, missed opportunities, and political choices of the Biden administration that allowed famine to occur in northern Gaza.
This conclusion was based on leaked documents and the testimonies of current and former officials and eyewitnesses, which paints a bleak picture of the disaster that could have been completely prevented, according to the investigation.
The newspaper’s investigation said that about 19 internal memoranda at the US Agency for Development criticized American support for the war on Gaza, and an internal memorandum drafted this month was quoted as calling on the Biden administration to end the Israeli siege that is causing famine in Gaza.
The newspaper also quoted American officials – some of them former – that Washington provided cover for Israel to cause famine in Gaza, by making the entry of aid impossible, and that the Biden administration rejected or ignored appeals to pressure Israel to enter sufficient aid into the Strip.
