Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir said that Israel must occupy Gaza, remain in the city centers within it, push a plan for the voluntary displacement of its residents, and kill the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar.
Ben Gvir added – in an interview with the Israeli Channel 13 – that Netanyahu must choose between Ben Gvir’s path or the path of War Council Minister Benny Gantz and opposition leader Yair Lapid, in reference to the differences with them, specifically with regard to the post-war phase.
Regarding the West Bank, Ben Gvir said that Palestinian workers should not be allowed to return to work in Israel, because this poses a threat to the lives of Israelis, as he put it.
The minister, known for his extremist positions, affirmed that “the political settlement will not achieve security for Israel and what happened on October 7th will be repeated,” referring to the surprise attack carried out by the resistance factions – led by the Hamas movement – on the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of about 1,200 Israelis and dozens were captured.
According to the Israeli army, 168 officers and soldiers were killed in Gaza since the start of the ground invasion of the Strip on October 27, while the total number of deaths since the seventh of the same month reached 502 officers and soldiers.
