In the video: Rafah’s buildings are “unfit for human habitation” | Policy

Gaza- “We moved from homes to graves,” with this description, the displaced Dr. Osama Abdel-Al began describing the condition of tens of thousands of Palestinians fleeing the Israeli attack to the Al-Mawasi area, northwest of the city of Rafah.

Abdel-Al is a lecturer at the University of Palestine, which was destroyed by the occupation at the beginning of the brutal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

He explained to Tel Aviv Tribune Net that, after long searches for an empty place in the Deir al-Balah area, then in the city of Khan Yunis, and from there to Al-Mawasi in Rafah, he found a place that was not suitable for human habitation; There is no water, electricity, or communications lines.

Health risks

While sitting at the door of a poor tent, Abdel-Al said that he and his family now live next to piles of garbage that cause them health damage, especially since they have cancer patients in the same tent.

He called on the responsible authorities to quickly find a solution, and called for an end to the war before the places of displaced people turn into devastating health disasters.

As for the citizen, Ain Zuhair, she stands confused and cannot find a place to shelter her or her family due to the large number of displaced people in the Mawasi Rafah area. She says: “There is no more to say. We were in the street. We were beaten everywhere. We fled the bombing, and here there is no place, no food, no water.” .

The area of the highways is estimated at 20 square kilometers, starting from Deir al-Balah in the center of the Strip and ending with Rafah on the Egyptian border - Raed Musa - Rafah - Tel Aviv Tribune Net

Warnings

The mayor of Rafah, Ahmed Al-Sufi, warned that the Al-Mawasi area is not prepared to accommodate a large number of displaced people, and there is no ready infrastructure. He stated that they need a huge number of tents to shelter 1.5 million displaced people, and that the Israeli bombing targeted all areas in Rafah, not just what the occupation claims are “safe areas.”

Several days ago, the occupation escalated its aggression against the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, and closed the Rafah land border crossing with Egypt, which portends catastrophic humanitarian repercussions throughout the besieged Strip.

According to the United Nations, about 1.4 million people are gathered in the city of Rafah, displaced due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip since the seventh of last October, which led to the death of about 35,000 Palestinians and the injury of nearly 80,000, according to the latest toll of the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
