From his temporary shelter in an UNRWA school in the city of Khan Yunis, Raed Farwaneh outlined the professional biography of his uncle, Dr. Omar Saleh Farwaneh, the most prominent infertility and IVF doctor in the Gaza Strip, a month after the latter was martyred under the rubble of his house in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, south of Gaza City, at midnight on October 15. October 2023 after returning from his work at Al-Shifa Medical Complex. As for the perpetrator, it was an Israeli warplane that carried out the killing of the doctor at night along with 16 members of his family, including the daughter of a doctor known for her role as Aya, at a time when only one girl from the extended family was saved.

Omar Farwaneh served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza. He also contributed – according to the spokesman – to establishing the “Public Service” and “Friends of the Patient” hospitals in Gaza, after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from Cairo University, and a Doctorate degree from the University of Leeds, one of Leading universities in the United Kingdom, and trained at the University of Western Australia, giving him 30 years of experience in infertility and IVF treatment.
