In search of a bag of flour.. A Gazan falling under an aid truck tears the hearts of tweeters | News

A video of a Palestinian falling under the wheels of a truck carrying humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip sparked a wave of anger on social media platforms, amid condemnation of the occupation’s use of starvation as a weapon during the ongoing war.

In the details, a young man named Shaker Abdo, while trying to get a bag of flour, fell under a truck while it was driving in northern Gaza, sustaining severe fractures and wounds to various parts of his body, and severe bleeding, as a result of which he died on the same day.

The United States announced the start of operation of the temporary floating port off the coast of Gaza, where the first load of humanitarian aid was unloaded.

This pier has become the only port for aid to enter the besieged Strip after Israel occupied the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side and closed the rest of the land ports with the Strip.

In turn, the United Nations said that its organizations operating in the Gaza Strip did not receive any aid from the temporary port last Sunday and Monday, as displaced Palestinians flocked to aid trucks before they arrived at UN warehouses.

“Oppression, injustice and pain”

The “Shabakat” program – in its episode dated (5/21/2024) – monitored some of the tweeters’ comments about the incident, as some saw that Tel Aviv and its partner Washington wanted to see these scenes of chaos in Gaza.

In this context, she said here, commenting on the young man’s fall, “This is the chaos that America and the occupation want, because people have no help, no work, no money.”

Muawiya Raafat described the incident as “the most difficult scene I have seen since the beginning of the war… full of injustice, oppression and pain… a horrifying and frightening scene that sums up the amount of starvation we have reached.”

In turn, Hossam Azzam called for the need to stop the Israeli aggression to prevent the recurrence of these tragic incidents. He said, “This is what humanitarian aid does to the citizens of northern Gaza.” He then added, asking, “Who will stop the hideous war? Who will restore our lives as they were?”

Among the comments – also – Hiyam Shmeisi said, “The search for a bag of flour and a simple meal has become the cause of the death of dozens of people searching for a living to support their children.”

For her part, Rawaa praised the young man’s courage and his insistence on feeding his family, and said, “A people have been hungry for 8 months, the crossings are closed, and the borders are closed on all sides… a man sacrificed his life in order to feed his family.”
