The Portuguese are called to the polls this Sunday to vote in the early legislative elections. The leaders of two largest parties focused their speeches on gender equality.
More than 9 million Portuguese are expected to go to the polls this Sunday to vote in the early legislative elections, or from this Thursday for the 1.6 million voters living abroad.
The electoral campaign is entering its final phase, and the two main candidates have focused their speeches on gender equality and women.
In an interview given to public television, the socialist leader, Pedro Nuno Santos, declared that he wanted to continue “valorize and defend women”.
The center right, for its part, believes that “gender equality” is “a fundamental pillar of equal opportunities” and promised “important and sure measures” in this direction.
The candidate of the far-right CHEGA party, André Ventura, promises to provoke “Europe’s biggest political earthquake” in the event of victory, even if these chances of entering the government remain unlikely.
According to the latest polls, the center-right coalition is ahead of the Socialists by 6 points, and should notably win a large portion of the votes of the undecided.
