14 Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian citizens were found guilty of spying against Poland during a trial that ended on Tuesday in Lublin.
The court declared that the defendants, who were not present in the courtroom, were guilty of preparing acts of sabotage and espionage on behalf of Russia against Poland. According to the instruction, they would operate “as part of an organized criminal group”.
He planned derailments of aid convoys to Ukraine and surveillance of military installations and crucial infrastructure in Poland.
Penalties range from one month to six years in prison. Two other alleged members of the ring, who withdrew their initial guilty pleas, will be tried separately. According to investigators, members of the network received orders via the messaging application Telegram and were paid in cryptocurrencies.
They also allegedly distributed propaganda materials inciting hatred towards the Ukrainian people. Polish media reported that the amounts collected ranged from $300 to around $10,000.
