In pictures: Displaced people in drowned tents in Gaza | news

Heavy rains over consecutive days caused the flooding of hundreds of temporary shelters throughout Gaza, adding to the misery of the displaced Palestinians in tents that could barely hold themselves together.

Forcibly displaced families struggle to keep their children warm and save what remains of their worldly goods.

The Palestinian Civil Defense says flood waters rose to more than 30 centimeters in the damaged tents, leaving displaced Palestinians exposed to the cold and property damage.

The emergency service said that tents located in areas including northern Gaza City and southern Khan Yunis, as well as central Deir al-Balah, had become unusable due to the floods.

While the weather is expected to improve in the coming days, it is already too late for some, as at least 7 people, including 6 children, have died due to the cold.

The cold weather caused great damage to the health care system, when water flooded a field hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, south of Gaza.
