In light of the closure of the crossings… warnings of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe and forced displacement in Gaza | News

The government media office in the Gaza Strip warned on Friday of the consequences of the humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the intensification of food, water and medicine crises and the aggravation of famine and thirst, holding the Israeli occupation and the US administration responsible for preventing the entry of aid.

He added – in a statement – that the occupation army continues to close all crossings and outlets leading to Gaza for 24 days, which threatens the exacerbation of the food, water and medicine crises, which enhances the chances of a real famine in the Gaza Strip, which is subject to a genocidal war carried out by the occupation and supported by the American administration.

Yesterday, Thursday, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs announced that the amount of food and humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip had decreased by two-thirds, since Israel began its attack on Rafah, south of the Strip.

The UN office said, in a report, that the amount of food and other aid entering Gaza, which was already insufficient to meet the growing needs, has decreased further since May 7.

He stated that from the 7th of May until last Tuesday, the average of trucks arriving in Gaza reached 58 trucks per day, compared to a daily average of 176 aid trucks during the period from the 1st of April to the 6th of May, which This represents a decrease of 67%.

The crisis worsens

In this context, the government media office in Gaza reported that 24 days had passed since the occupation army occupied the Rafah land crossing and closed the Kerem Shalom crossing, which led to the occurrence of complex humanitarian crises by preventing 22,000 wounded and sick people from traveling to receive treatment outside the Gaza Strip, as well as preventing Bringing humanitarian aid and supplies into Gaza.

He pointed out that there are more than 2 million displaced people in the Gaza Strip who live mainly and solely on aid, especially in light of the loss of a quarter of a million family heads of their businesses and jobs due to the Israeli war, which resulted in their lack of cash liquidity, which clearly enhances the chances of deepening the famine.

The office stated that the Israeli occupation prevents the entry of fuel, cooking gas and medicine as part of its policy of pressure on civilians, children and women, which is a crime against humanity, which led to more than 98% of the bakeries in the Gaza Strip stopping work due to the lack of cooking gas.

He pointed out that more than 700 water wells stopped working in the Gaza Strip due to being targeted by the Israeli occupation army and the prevention of the entry of fuel, which increases the chances of deepening famine and thirst against civilians, especially against children and women.

He said that the moral and humanitarian image of the American administration and the occupation was clearly shattered in the face of the catastrophes of starvation, murder, genocide, and the systematic destruction of residential neighborhoods, infrastructure, water, sewage, and electricity networks, and all sectors and aspects of life in the Strip.

The office warned the international community and all countries of the world against the catastrophic worsening of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, and called on the International Criminal Court and all other international courts to pursue the Israeli and American war criminals who killed more than 36,000 people in a historic holocaust the likes of which the world has never witnessed.

In turn, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stressed that overcrowded shelters and lack of hygiene increase the spread of infectious diseases, amid a shortage of vaccines and medicines.

Forced displacement

On the other hand, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory said that Israel is continuing the crime of forced displacement by destroying the remaining residential neighborhoods and international shelter centers in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

He added that the occupation deliberately, over the course of 3 weeks of its military operation in Jabalia, comprehensively destroyed the remaining necessities of life, housing, and survival in the camp, including wiping out entire residential blocks, medical and food centers, and United Nations shelter centers.

He pointed out that he documented the occupation forces’ destruction of all UNRWA headquarters in Jabalia camp, which were considered shelters and shelter centers for thousands of Palestinian civilians who were expelled from their homes after they were destroyed in Israeli attacks.

He stated that the comprehensive, deliberate and widespread Israeli destruction of all forms of life and housing in Jabalia camp represents a clear pattern repeated in all areas of the Gaza Strip, with the aim of consolidating the crime of forced displacement.

He added that the occupation deliberately systematically militarizes civilian objects, including converting schools, educational facilities and hospitals into military bases, in flagrant violation of international law and the rules of war.

The Observatory called for urgent international intervention to stop all Israeli military attacks targeting civilians, and to stop the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with American support, leaving more than 118,000 martyrs and wounded, and about 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
