In Davos, political and economic leaders want to “rebuild trust”


The 54th edition of the Davos Economic Forum is being held this week with the theme “rebuilding trust”.

Normally, the city of Davos, Switzerland is a quiet winter sports resort. But in a few hours, political leaders, billionaires, business leaders, NGOs and members of civil society will meet at the World Economic Forum which runs until January 19.

This year the theme is “rebuilding trust”.

Some will associate the degradation of trust with the profound transformations that we observe all around us, whether technological, political, societal or linked to climate and nature. Others will also say that all these transformations, taken as a whole, have ushered in a totally new era, a brutal new reality“, explains Mirek Dušek, director general of the World Economic Forum.

On the program for this edition, geopolitics, the future of AI, climate change, with participants from diverse backgrounds.

What brought me to Davos? Networking. I am an investor in biotechnology and digital health, so I have a large ecosystem of people that I will meet“, explains another participant.

US Secretary of State, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Ukrainian President Zelensky are some of the world leaders who will take center stage this week in Davos.
