New volcanic eruption in Iceland, the lava jets rise 80 meters high and are visible from Reykjavik.
Iceland is the scene of a new volcanic eruption with jets of lava reaching 80 meters above the crater.
The volcano is on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland, and the eruption is visible from the capital Reykjiavik.
The plume of smoke rises to an altitude of 3 km.
The eruption took place north of Grindavik, the small town whose 4,000 inhabitants were evacuated last November.
This is the third volcanic eruption in two months.
The Icelandic Meteorological Institute estimates the flow of lava “slightly less” than at the start of the eruption on December 18.
