Social media platforms interacted greatly with the military parade organized by the Jenin Battalion of the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, just two days after the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Jenin camp.
This offer came after a 10-day Israeli military operation that resulted in the martyrdom of 21 Palestinians and caused great destruction to infrastructure and citizens’ property.
Dozens of fighters from the Jenin Battalion participated in the military parade that toured the streets and neighborhoods of the camp. After the parade ended, the resistance fighters participated in a house of mourning set up for the camp’s martyrs during the Israeli military operation, in the courtyard of the Jenin Club, in the presence of the camp’s residents and the martyrs’ families.
During the show, one of the Jenin Battalion fighters stated, “The Jenin Battalion is fine, and the claims of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his army leaders about eliminating the battalion are false and invalid, and are an attempt to deceive Israeli public opinion.” This statement reflects the Palestinian resistance’s challenge to the Israeli narrative about the results of the military operation.
The episode of “Networks” on 9-9-2024 reviewed the most prominent comments of activists in which they expressed their support and admiration for the resistance’s steadfastness in the face of Israeli military operations.
Where tweeter Saleh Abdullah praised the resistance, invoking poetry and literature to describe the scene, tweeting, “This military parade and the sudden appearance of the men of the Jenin Battalion reminds me of what the poet said, ‘Do you think you have obliterated my identity? And erased my history and beliefs? You try in vain, for a revolutionary will not perish. I am like the resurrection, one day I will come.’”
Anger in Israel
The account owner, Nour, agreed with Abdullah about his admiration for the resistance and confirmed his opinion by saying, “After every military operation, the heroes of Jenin go out in a military parade to honor the martyrs as they should and to defeat the enemy psychologically. Every resistance fighter among them lost a friend, a relative, a home, or more, but he goes out raising his weapon to complete the path of the martyrs who came before him.”
Abu Al-Sukkar added a comment praising the resistance’s steadfastness, and he used poetry to emphasize the continuity of the resistance in Jenin. He said, “No matter what happens, this camp will continue to produce fighters. The phoenix refuses to be hunted, so be stubborn with whoever you can stand.”
Activist Khaled supported the opinion of those who came before him and stressed the continuity of the resistance despite the losses. He tweeted, “Despite the plots and the martyrdom of fighters and leaders, Jenin is still on the path. Jenin is still shocking and will remain so.”
As for the tweeter Yassin Ezz El-Din, he focused his comment on what he considered a failure of the Israeli military operation, saying, “This show shows the abject failure of the occupation army’s operation (the summer camps), which turned out to be a big failure.”
On the other hand, the appearance of the Jenin Battalion in its military parade sparked anger in Israel. The newspaper “Israel Today” reported in its report, “A large number of militants appeared in the military parade, exceeding previous parades, and this is evidence that the terrorist battalions were able to renew their ranks in a short time.”
As for the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, it quoted Israeli security officials commenting on the military parade, saying, “The military operation in Jenin has not ended yet, and we will return to eliminate terrorism there.”
