At least 10,000 people demonstrated on Friday February 16, after revelations about a sexual abuse case.

Gathered in Budapest on Sunday, these demonstrators demanded the resignation of the government…A gathering which did not move many people. It comes a few days after the resignation of the Hungarian president, criticized for having pardoned a man involved in a child abuse case.

We are at the heart of the biggest political scandal in the last 14 years of Fidesz government. Many people are outraged, as the huge demonstration last week showed. Despite this, the opposition parties only managed to bring together a few thousand people in front of Parliament“, explains Ádám Magyar, journalist from Euronews.

Most of the protesters were present last week.

It was uplifting, there was a very strong feeling of solidarity. Today, I am rather disappointed that the young people did not come. It’s discouraging“, explains a demonstrator.

This scandal has tarnished the image of Viktor Orbán, who has long presented himself as the defender of family values.
