Israel says some UN agency staff were involved in the October 7 Hamas attacks.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees – UNRWA – offers a lifeline to almost 6 million people.

Created in 1949, its mission is to help Palestinians forced to leave their homes during the creation of the State of Israel and their descendants who are still displaced.

Today, the future of the agency – and that of those who depend on it to survive – is under threat.

Several Western countries have suspended funding to UNRWA following Israeli accusations that some of its personnel were involved in Hamas attacks on southern Israel on October 7.

The agency fired some employees and opened an investigation
