Military expert Colonel Hatem Karim Al-Falahi said it was likely that the Palestinian resistance would succeed in planting explosive devices and “operating behind enemy lines” after the commander of the 401st Armored Brigade arrived in Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip.
Al-Falahi, a retired Iraqi colonel, reviewed two scenarios, the first of which was preparing the resistance on the battlefield in advance, referring to planting explosive devices before the start of the Israeli military operation more than two weeks ago.
On Sunday evening, the Israeli occupation army announced that the commander of the 401st Brigade, Colonel Ihsan Daqsa, was killed and another officer was seriously injured in battles in Jabalia.
In the second scenario, the officers getting off the tanks, according to the military expert, means that the road taken by the military sectors is secure and under Israeli control, indicating that there are Israeli security arrangements being made before these high-ranking leaders arrive in the area.
In this case, resistance members succeeded in approaching the area and planting explosive devices.
On Sunday, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), broadcast scenes of its fighters targeting Israeli military vehicles with explosive devices and anti-tank shells, in addition to fierce clashes with Israeli special forces from short distances.
The military expert believes that the departure of these officers to an advanced field position indicates the presence of “a confused tactical situation taking place in the region, requiring close reconnaissance, and making arrangements and an action plan for the coming period.”
Israeli Army Radio said that Colonel Daqsa was accompanied by 3 other officers in two tanks inside Jabalia in the battle zone, and added that he and the officers left the tanks 20 meters away, and while they were moving, an explosive device was detonated on them.
The radio continued that the incident in which Colonel Daqsa was killed and 3 officers were injured, including the deputy commander of the 162nd Division and the commander of the 52nd Battalion, noting that Colonel Daqsa was among 4 colonels killed since the beginning of the war on Gaza.
Daqsa is the highest-ranking member of the Israeli army killed since the ground operation inside the Gaza Strip in late October 2023.
