The presence and reputation of Israel among the countries of the world declined, and countries recognized the State of Palestine, based on data from the Palestinian Authority, and recent announcements issued by governments around the world in which 146 countries recognized the Palestinian State.
From day one, Israel was keen to attract international sympathy and at the same time unleashed its military machine to commit daily massacres of civilians and imposed hunger, displacement and siege on those who survived, thus provoking global popular discontent that prompted millions to take to the streets from Melbourne and Taipei in the east to Los Angeles and Seattle in the west. Demonstrations did not stop throughout the past year, with the number exceeding 23,000 demonstrations in Europe alone.
