The leaks revealed by the Israeli media about an attack by extremist ministers in the Israeli government on the Chief of Staff of the occupation army, Herzi Halevy, prompted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to direct that a lie detection law be presented to the Knesset for approval.

These leaks angered Netanyahu, who described them as an epidemic. He said that he would not be able to continue in this situation, according to the Israeli media. Not only that, but the head of the National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, ordered the draft lie detection law to be presented to Parliament.

According to what was reported in the Israeli press, Netanyahu demanded that his ministers and high-ranking officials who attend government and war council meetings be subjected to lie detector tests.

A few days ago, 4 ministers in the Israeli government – during a session of the security mini-ministerial council – attacked Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy after his decision to form an investigation team to examine the failures that led to the attack of last October 7. The session also included criticism and angry discussions between some ministers and officials in the Army.

Netanyahu in the dock

Netanyahu’s move received great interaction on social media platforms in Israel, as some accused Netanyahu of being behind the leaks and recordings that were published, while some demanded the necessity of his departure as prime minister, according to monitoring of the “Shabakat” program in the episode (1/8/2024).

In this context, Mikey said through his account, “The leaks came from Netanyahu himself. If they put him on a lie detector once, the device will certainly burn from his lies.”

In turn, Maron described Netanyahu as “a clown who is deceiving himself,” before adding, “He is just an accused criminal who has placed an entire country hostage to war to escape prison and for fear of the end of his political career.”

For his part, Madreem recalled Netanyahu’s old record and his attempt to pass the law years ago, and in this context he said, “The war criminal Netanyahu has been trying to pass the lie detection law since 2018 to tighten oversight,” adding, “He works in the manner of a dictator: leaks, then anger, then demands for approval.” Law, so he can do whatever he wants without anyone moving.”

As for De Gaulle, he saw that the current Israeli prime minister is exploiting what is happening for his personal benefit, noting that “Netanyahu is using his and his friends’ leaks to blackmail the army. Netanyahu poses a threat to our presence in Israel.”

Dror preferred to send a direct message to Netanyahu and his government, which he described as crazy, and said, “We are not ready to continue like this either. Leave your seat or we will leave you.”

It is noteworthy that an opinion poll conducted by the Israeli Kan channel showed that 64% of Israelis are dissatisfied with Netanyahu’s performance in the war on Gaza, and that the Likud Party – led by Netanyahu – will not obtain more than 20 seats in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
