Washington – Several questions are still looking for answers regarding the murder of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, Sarah Millegre and her fiancé Yaron Lesinsky, outside the Jewish Museum in the heart of the American capital last Wednesday night.

A number of commentators ruled out that Washington and Tel Aviv’s relations were affected by the incident, at a time when all US decision -making circles were condemned because it “expresses the scale and danger of hostility to Semitism in various American states since the events of October 7, 2023.”

A number of symbols of the Jewish lobby chose to blame the critics of the Israeli policies, and a number of them jumped to describe the perpetrator Elias Rodriguez as “loyal to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)”, and that the indulgence with the student protests movement paved this attack.

Limited effect

The reactions to the operation were fast and decisive. President Donald Trump said, “These horrific killings in the capital, which are clearly based on anti -Semitism, must now end, hatred and radicalism have no place in the United States.” Data of condemnation was issued by various members of Congress from the Democratic and Republican parties.

A number of commentators ruled out that this incident would affect the nature of the strong relationship between Israel and the United States, or that Washington take different positions to its material and military support for the continuous Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. Experts also did not rule out that the Trump administration would be hardly facing the protest movement against Tel Aviv inside the United States.

In an interview with Al -Jazeera Net, Professor Osama Khalil, head of the International Relations Program at the University of Sri Laws, New York State, pointed out that Israeli officials have attempted to link the crime of protests in universities.

“This deceitful effort occurs, although the person involved was not a university student and the attack was not made on a university campus. However, the attack on the museum will be used by the Trump administration, Israeli officials, university administrators and local authorities to suppress the opposition and protests related to Palestine.”

Israeli supporters have taken advantage of the incident to recall the violence that targeted the Jews in recent years, such as the large attacks of anti -Semitic white fanatics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Charlotville, Virginia, which extended to a significant rise in anti -Semitism incidents after the events of October 7, and that the authorities did not deal with them seriously.

Ron Halber, CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council in Greater Washington, said in a television interview.

Reactions

Mark Dubovitz, director of the Defense Defense Corporation, a supportive research authority in Washington, has responded to a tweet of Democratic Senator Drees Van Holin, “I stepped aside, Senator, I have spent years fueling hatred against Israel, and pouring gasoline on fire since the October 7 attacks.”

Holin is one of the strongest voices within the Senate in his criticism of what Israel is doing against the people of Gaza, and demands the cessation of the shipment of American weapons to it, and the accountability of its leaders for the incusional humanitarian crimes and tragedies witnessed, resulting in the martyrdom of about 55 thousand people and the injury of more than 100,000.

The Senator had tweeted the attack, and said on the X platform, “I feel dismay from the sordid attack on those who attend an event at the Jewish Capital Museum, which killed two of the Israeli embassy employees.

For its part, the AIPAC organization, the largest American Jewish lobby organizations, said in its statement that “since the Hamas Al -Hamji attack on October 7, Israel and the Jewish community around the world faced increasing levels of anti -Semitic demonization, we call on American leaders to condemn loudly and boycott this attack and hateful discourse that inspires such sordid acts.”

The Israeli side took advantage of the incident to pressure the US government to adopt a more strict stance towards Iran and the anti -Israel student movement in hundreds of American universities.

In an interview with Fox News, Danny Danone, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, said that “when Iran’s leaders are left, they say death to the Jews and destroy Israel, and when American students repeat these phrases and ignore university presidents, what they have seen.”

Investigations

A statement of the American Jewish Congress also indicated shock and terror from the killing, and Daniel Rosen, the head of Congress, considered that “the anti -Semitic incitement that has escalated in the recent period caused this tragic event.”

“For those who claim that the globalization of the uprising is peace and not anti -Semitic, the terrifying shooting of two adult Jewish young men is evidence that you are wrong. Just because one person presses the trigger does not mean that he acted alone,” Rosen said in a statement of Al -Jazeera Net.

Why did Rodriguez come to Washington? Did this crime be committed? And why did not any Jewish center from the producer in the city of Chicago, where there is also a huge Israeli diplomatic consulate? Do you move alone? How did he get the weapon used in the crime? These and other questions did not know answers at a time when the US Department of Justice charged Rodriguez’s first -class deaths as a single suspect in the accident.

While the FBI in all of these and other questions, reports indicated a document written by Rodriguez in 900 words on May 20, and posted it on the Internet a day before he committed the murder.

The document stated that “the murder incident was an act of political protest that was ignited by the war in Gaza, and that armed action is not necessarily militarily, is usually theater and a witness, a feature in which it shares with many unarmed actions.”

The same document added, “The brutality has long showed that it is shockingly common, humiliating humanity. Then the perpetrator may be a lovely parent, a wonderful child, a generous, charitable and friendly friend, and is able to abide by morals in the times in which he suits him and sometimes even when he does not suit him, yet he is a monster though.”

Rodriguez pointed out that his killing would make many Americans read what he wrote, and considered his action “the only rational thing to do.” He ended the document, saying, that he loves his parents, sister and family, before adding “freedom for Palestine.”
