On his last day in his position after his resignation in the wake of the crisis of the recruitment of the Haraidim (religious militants), the Israeli Minister of Jerusalem and Heritage, Muir Broch, signed a dangerous matter to implement the confiscation of homes and commercial stores owned by the Palestinians in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
The real estate that Broch signed to evacuate the Bab al -Silsila road leading to the blessed Al -Aqsa Mosque is located, claiming to be within the borders of the “Jewish Quarter”.
The move to evacuate the Palestinians from these real estate was postponed due to “political sensitivities”, according to the Hebrew “Kan” website, which touched that the resigned minister sent a message to the members of the Board of Directors of the “Jewish neighborhood development” company, in which he stated that he made this decision according to his powers.
According to the “Kan” website, the book signed by Brosh was not attached to a legal opinion, but his office indicated that he informed the legal office of the Ministry.
Forced displacement
In the event that what was implemented by the Minister of the Haridi (the religious militant), many real estate owners are on the way to the chain adjacent to the “Jewish Quarter”, who will be dismissed from it.
Al -Jazeera Net asked the maps and settlement expert Khalil Al -Takfjji about the floor that the Israeli minister relied on to issue his decision, and he said that the confiscation on which brooch dates back to 1968 when Israel confiscated 116 dunums (dunum equals a thousand square meters) in the old town under the pretext of “public interest.”
He added, “The Jewish Quarter had an area of 5 dunums before 1948, and after the confiscations and expansion it is now located on an area of 130 dunums and inhabited by 4,500 Jews, as the properties were transferred from private property to state property and then granted to the Jews.”
Not all Palestinians whose homes and real estate are located within the limits of the 116 dunums were notified, and a line of real estate remained in the front end of it from being evacuated, and it is estimated that the real estate covered by the last decision “ranges between 15 to 20 real estate.”
Many families expanded the “Jewish Quarter” at the expense of their real estate, according to the maps expert, including the family of “Al -Numari, Ghunaim, Al -Bashiti, Al -Sa’ouni, Al -Alam, Sharaf and Burqan, and others, and the names of other Jerusalem families will be added if the confiscation signed by the resigned minister is implemented.
A large part of the Jewish neighborhood is based on Arab property, and the process of re -registration of lands and the transfer of property from the Arabs to the Jews began in 2007.
When asked about the reason why Jerusalemites did not evacuate the real estate, although a decision was issued to do so 57 years ago, Al -Takfajji said, “Because the circumstances were not favorable, and they are today, and this falls within the framework of resolving the issue of Jerusalem, and this decision cannot be separated from a series of other procedures and projects, including expanding settlements in the east of the city, the launch of the railway project that will reach Arab neighborhoods, and prepare the infrastructure and others.”
A historical Islamic school
In turn, the researcher in the history of Jerusalem, Ihab Al -Jallad, told Al -Jazeera Net that Minister Broch’s decision, even if it falls within the framework of threats only, is dangerous, because he talks about historical Islamic places dating back to the Mamluk and Ottoman periods, and includes schools and burials built by princes.
In the targeted area, there is a Tchatabeh school, which is one of the most important schools in the Old City, and it included a number of facilities, including writers for memorizing the Holy Quran for children, a school for education education, and the burial of the founder of the school, Prince Mamluki, Tasharter Al -Ala’i and his son Ibrahim.
The school is not currently playing its educational roles, but rather the part that was dedicated to the writers has turned into shops, while the upper floors are setting up Jerusalem families, while the ground floor is used as the headquarters of the Higher Islamic Authority headed by Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, while the mausoleum is still the same.
The region also included, according to the executioner, “Khan al -Fahm, the Shawaiyyin Market, or what was known as the cooking market, the Al -Harafish stairs, and the white market”, in addition to many buildings that were arrested in the past on the dome of the honorable rock and the Al -Aqsa Mosque, and thus “even if this is a threat and waving the stick; the minister talks about an important area and has ancient Islamic buildings.”
The researcher at the Israeli human rights association, Afif Tatsky, said in a brief statement to Al -Jazeera Net that the details have not been published yet, and that the association will seek to obtain it, adding that the minister Meir Broch decided to do something before he left the government, “and I do not know the fact that this step is serious or if he did this in order to cause a media sensation only.”
“Demographical danger”
It is noteworthy that this extremist minister climbed to the Israeli Knesset platform on May 28 to deliver a speech at the session held on the occasion of what is known as “Unification of Jerusalem”, and focused in his speech on the challenges facing the Israeli authorities in the issue of the negative immigration of Jews from Jerusalem, saying that it is “at the current pace; Jerusalem will not remain with a Jewish majority.”
He added, “The percentage of Jews in the capital decreased from 72% in 1967 to 57% today, and at the current rate, Jerusalem will not remain with a long -term Jewish, and this number must all keep us awake throughout the night.”
This discourse cannot be separated from the decision that this Haridi minister ordered to be implemented before hours of leaving his position. With the escalation of the phenomenon of negative immigration of Jews from Jerusalem, he decided to uproot more Jerusalemites from their real estate, and to replace the Jews in their place to achieve the dream of resolving demography in Jerusalem in favor of the Jews.
It also seems that the presence of the Almoravids away from the Al -Aqsa Mosque on the road to Bab Al -Silsal in recent years and their attempt to confront the settlers stormed the Al -Aqsa Mosque after their exit from it has become disturbed by officials, including Broch who ordered the evacuation of shops and homes from the Palestinians, and thus the region becomes packed with the settlers and devoid of the Arabs in the future, and this may dry out the arrival of the worshipers to the first two kisses from this section after this chapter. The road leading to it.
