Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris called on Tuesday for an end to the war in Gaza, saying that Israel should not reoccupy the Palestinian enclave once the Israeli war on Gaza, which has been ongoing for nearly a year, ends.

In a speech she gave in Philadelphia to the National Association of Black Journalists, Harris called for a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), a two-state solution, and stability in the Middle East in a way that limits Iran’s influence.

“We have made it clear to ourselves that this deal must be done in the interest of everyone in the region,” US Vice President Joe Biden said in response to questions from three journalists.

For its part, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said that at least 41,252 people were killed, while 95,497 people were injured in the Israeli attack on the Strip since October 7.
