Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, said that Operation Al-Aqsa Flood came after an attempt to marginalize the Palestinian issue.
Haniyeh added – in his speech at a conference of the International Union of Muslim Scholars – that Israel had set three goals: eliminating resistance, recovering prisoners, and displacement from Gaza towards Egyptian territory.
He explained that the Israeli occupation delineated 4 stages of the war: aerial bombardment, ground entry, focused operations against the resistance, and the political stage.
Haniyeh stressed that despite the high price, the massacres, and the war of extermination, the Israeli occupation army failed to achieve any of its goals in the war on the Gaza Strip, and its losses and deaths on the battlefields were greater than what it announced.
The head of Hamas’s political bureau also added that the occupation army failed, after about 100 days of war, bombing, spy planes, and search efforts, to recover any detainee.
Haniyeh stressed that the Israeli occupation will never be able to recover those detained by the resistance unless all Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons are released.
Haniyeh touched on the ongoing escalation in all areas of the West Bank, and said that the Israeli occupation forces are abusing the people of the West Bank daily, and the developments there are very dangerous, as he was martyred. More than 350 Palestinians in the West Bank since the Al-Aqsa flood.
