The movement said – in a statement – that “the positions expressed by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken regarding South Africa’s lawsuit and the American positions in this regard are an attempt to obstruct the tools of international justice from carrying out their role, within the framework of their full support for the massacres committed by the occupation against civilians in the Gaza Strip.”
In this context, Hamas called on “the American administration once again to stop its policies that prolong the aggression and genocide committed in the Gaza Strip,” according to the statement.
The movement called on Washington to “work immediately to stop this criminal aggression, and stop tampering with international laws and regulations, in the interest of the Zionist entity of terrorism and war crimes.”
Yesterday, Tuesday, Blinken said, at the conclusion of his discussions with officials in Israel, that South Africa’s lawsuit “distracts efforts to contain the escalation” in the Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that the United States believes that “the genocide claim filed by South Africa against Israel before the International Court of Justice is without merit.”
Tomorrow, Thursday, the International Court of Justice is scheduled to begin hearing the positions of Israel and South Africa over a period of two days, which aims to put Tel Aviv on trial for committing “genocide crimes” in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to harsh aggression for more than 3 months.
The court, which is the main judicial body of the United Nations, is expected to decide later how its deliberations in this case will proceed.
