Hamas mourns Hezbollah leader Ibrahim Aqil and considers his assassination an affirmation of the unity of destiny | News

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) mourned the prominent military commander and head of Hezbollah’s operations system, Ibrahim Aqil, who was assassinated by Israel in an air strike on the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Friday evening.

Hamas said in a statement that “the martyrdom of the great leader Hajj Ibrahim Aqil, on the road to Jerusalem, and in the heroic support battle that the Islamic Resistance is waging in Lebanon, in support of our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, alongside our brothers in the axis of resistance, confirms once again the unity of destiny and path.”

She added that she offers “sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the martyr, the brothers in the leadership of Hezbollah, and the brotherly Lebanese people.”

She appreciated what she described as “the great sacrifices made by the fighters of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, and their insistence on continuing their support and backing of our people who are being subjected to brutal genocide at the hands of the criminal neo-Nazi Zionists.”

She stressed that “this crime committed by the occupation is a foolishness for which it will pay the price, and that the blood of the martyr leader Ibrahim Aqil, and the martyrs of our people and nation that was shed on the path to Jerusalem, will be a flame that will scorch this artificial entity,” according to the statement.

Southern suburb attack

Hezbollah officially announced, at dawn today, Saturday, what Israel announced regarding its assassination of its military commander, Ibrahim Aqil, in an attack on the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The party said in a statement, “Today (Friday), the great jihadist leader Hajj Ibrahim Aqil joined the procession of his brothers, the great martyr leaders, after a blessed life full of jihad, work, wounds, sacrifices, risks, challenges, achievements and victories. He was always worthy of receiving this lofty divine medal.”

The Israeli army announced, last Friday evening, the assassination of Hezbollah military leader Ibrahim Aqil, in an air strike that targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said, “The air force carried out a precise raid in Beirut, targeting a Hezbollah military meeting, and assassinated Ibrahim Aqil, head of Hezbollah’s operations division, and a number of leaders of the operations division in the Radwan unit.”
