The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said on Friday that Israel is imposing a series of measures to prevent relief for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, who have been subjected to bloody aggression and genocide for more than a year and a month.
The leader of the movement, Khalil Al-Hayya, said – in a statement – that the first of these measures is to limit the volume of aid by allowing a small number of trucks to cross daily, not more than 40 trucks in the north and 60 in the south, noting that sometimes no trucks enter at all.
Before Israel began its aggression against the Gaza Strip, on October 7, 2023, more than 600 trucks of goods and foodstuffs entered the Gaza Strip daily, according to official Palestinian sources.
The movement’s leader explained that among the occupation’s measures to prevent relief from Gaza is closing the Rafah crossing (on the border with Egypt) and preventing the entry of hundreds of trucks that remained waiting in the open for several months, which led to their damage.
He pointed out that Israel is also working to restrict the work of international relief institutions, pointing out that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) faces systematic restrictions even though it is the only institution qualified and organized to deliver relief and provides aid to two-thirds of the Palestinian people.
Al-Hayya also stated that the occupation army “allows thieves” – as he described it – to operate within areas under its control, and targets special committees to secure the arrival of aid.
The Palestinians in Gaza are suffering from a systematic starvation policy due to a scarcity of foodstuffs due to Israel’s obstruction of the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip, according to confirmations from numerous UN and international institutions. The international community calls on Israel to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, but to no avail.
The famine has worsened in most areas of the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli siege, especially in the north following the continued extermination and starvation, while all areas of the Gaza Strip are experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, coinciding with the advent of winter for the second year, with approximately two million displaced Palestinians, most of whom live in tents.
