Leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Sami Abu Zuhri, said that the resistance in the Gaza Strip succeeded in confronting a “global war,” and the countries that sponsored Israel are now withdrawing their support.

Abu Zuhri’s speech came on the sidelines of a speech festival in solidarity with the Gaza Strip under the title “Al-Aqsa Flood, Pride of a Nation,” organized by Al-Zaytouna University in Tunisia – one of the oldest universities in the world – yesterday, Friday.

Abu Zuhri said, “Some were rushing to normalize relations with Israel, so we decided to shake the consciences of the rulers. There is no way for us except this major battle, and we are ready to pay more for the sake of Jerusalem,” referring to the start of the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle on October 7. the past.

Abu Zuhri added, “We are continuing on this path. We consciously planned this battle and we realize that its costs are great. We faced the alliance of Western powers. The battle succeeded in shattering the image of the occupation, which claimed to be the largest force in the region.”

He added, “They thought that Hamas would only last a few hours, and some leaders told us: We did not think that you would last this long.”

A state of shock

Abu Zuhri explained that the resistance in the Gaza Strip succeeded in confronting a global war, and that the countries that sponsored the occupation are now retreating from supporting the killers of children, the elderly, and women.

He believed that the world was shocked because he succeeded in liberating himself from the control of the Israeli media, and the West watched what was happening in Gaza and was in a state of shock.

The Hamas leader added that university students decided to be against this aggression, and the university uprising started from America, which is controlled by Zionism, he said.

On April 18, students and academics who rejected the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip began a sit-in on the campus of Columbia University in New York, which extended to other American and international universities, demanding their administrations to stop their academic cooperation with Israeli universities and withdraw their investments from companies that support the occupation of the Palestinian territories.

On October 7, Hamas and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood in response to the continuing attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against the Palestinian people, their property, and their sanctities, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

Israel then launched a war on the Gaza Strip, leaving about 113,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and nearly 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
