A prominent leader in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Sami Abu Zuhri, said today, Tuesday, that the movement deplores the pressure from Washington and the West on it to accept US President Joe Biden’s proposal regarding Gaza, considering that Hamas is the one obstructing reaching an agreement.

Abu Zuhri added, in statements reported by media outlets affiliated with the movement, that Israel is not interested in reaching a serious deal in Gaza, and is still evading under American cover, which contributes to deception.

Abu Zuhri’s statements come a day after White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby called on Hamas to agree to a ceasefire agreement with Israel.

Kirby added to the American ABC News network that the current Israeli proposal is the result of intense diplomatic efforts between the United States and Israel, and that the ball is now in Hamas’ court, explaining that
“The proposal is Israeli. We fully expect that if Hamas agrees to the proposal, as it was told, Israel will say yes.”

Last Friday, Biden revealed the details of the Israeli proposal for a ceasefire in 3 stages to end the war on Gaza.

The proposal calls for a ceasefire, the release of Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners, and the reconstruction of Gaza.

The Hamas movement announced that it deals positively with the ideas presented by Biden and considered them a general framework, and stressed the necessity of achieving this by reaching a complete agreement that includes a ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, and relief and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas leader Osama Hamdan told Tel Aviv Tribune that the effort made by the mediators in Qatar and Egypt aims to bring about a ceasefire, and that the general framework of what was stated in the Biden plan is generally good, but they need to know the details of the plan, stressing that the side that has been stubborn over the past four months is the side. Israeli.

Qatar, which mediates with Egypt and the United States regarding Gaza between Israel and Hamas, stressed that there must be a clear position from both parties to reach a ceasefire agreement.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari said on Tuesday, “We received an Israeli proposal that reflects the principles as stated by President Joe Biden, and we in turn conveyed them to the Hamas movement. The paper now includes positions of both sides that are closer than before. We are doing our best to put the final touches to reach an agreement.”

Al-Ansari stressed that Qatar is waiting for a clear Israeli position that represents the entire government, in response to the American proposal regarding Gaza.
