Hamas confirms continued flexibility in negotiations, praises mediators | News

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) confirmed that it would not set any new demands and rejected any new conditions in the negotiations with Israel, and renewed the movement’s continued positivity and flexibility to reach a ceasefire agreement and the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from the entire Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the movement said it welcomed the Egyptian and Qatari roles and efforts in indirect negotiations to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people, noting that the movement’s negotiating delegation, headed by Khalil Al-Hayya, met today in Doha with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel.

In the meeting that brought together the Hamas negotiating delegation with officials in Qatar and Egypt, the movement confirmed its readiness to immediately implement the ceasefire agreement based on the announcement of US President Joe Biden last May.

Hamas renewed its rejection of any projects related to the post-cessation of aggression phase and stressed that the management of the Gaza Strip is an internal Palestinian affair. It confirmed its cooperation with the mediators and welcomed their continued role in reaching a ceasefire agreement and the occupation’s withdrawal from all of the Gaza Strip’s territories, which would pave the way for a prisoner exchange deal, the return of the displaced, reconstruction and relief.

National Dialogue

Hamas also welcomed holding a national dialogue with all Palestinian factions and forces to agree on a vision to confront the repercussions of the current stage.

Netanyahu accused Hamas of obstructing the reaching of an agreement, and insists on the continued presence of Israeli army forces at the Netzarim Corridor, which divides the Gaza Strip into north and south, as well as the Rafah crossing and the Salah al-Din (Philadelphi) Corridor on the border with Egypt, if a ceasefire agreement is reached, which the movement rejects.

This comes amid the faltering negotiations mediated by Qatar and Egypt with the participation of the United States of America, while the latter is working on a new proposal, although an Israeli official said that Washington fears failure if it presents its new proposal in the current atmosphere.

Since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, with full American support, leaving about 136,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amidst massive destruction and deadly famine.

In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
