The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that what was revealed by the American CNN network about cases of Israel’s torture of Gaza Strip prisoners in secret detention centers is only a small part of the atrocities committed against these detainees.

Hamas stated, in a statement today, Saturday, that the report revealed the state of torture and brutality with which the occupation army deals with Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip, whom it holds in secret detention centers, not subject to any supervision, and in which it commits the most horrific forms of torture and sadism that humanity cannot comprehend. .

The Hamas statement indicated that this investigation – in addition to the horrific testimonies narrated by those recently released from those secret detention centers, which are more like human slaughterhouses that go beyond the crimes and atrocities of the Nazis – requires international human rights organizations to document these crimes.

He stressed that committing such atrocities does not only represent a failure of the international community in all its institutions or a disgrace to humanity, but it also threatens international peace by allowing these murderers and fascists to escape punishment.

Hamas stressed that the right to hold accountable what it described as a “rogue entity” will not lapse by statute of limitations, nor will these atrocities be erased from the memory of peoples and generations, and “the day will come when these criminals will be held accountable for what they committed against our people and against humanity.”

Types of torture

Yesterday, Friday, the American CNN network revealed violations committed by Israel against detainees from Gaza in a secret detention center in the Negev Desert.

The investigation quoted Israeli testimonies that Palestinian detainees live in extremely harsh conditions in a military base that has become a detention center in the Negev desert in the south.

One witness said that foul odors filled the detention center, where men were crammed blindfolded and prevented from speaking or moving.

He added that doctors in the detention center sometimes amputate prisoners’ limbs due to injuries resulting from constant handcuffing, and medical procedures sometimes performed by unqualified doctors, as the air is filled with the smell of neglected wounds left to rot.

In response to CNN’s request to comment on what was stated in the investigation, the Israeli army said in a statement that it ensures appropriate behavior towards detained detainees, and that any allegation of misconduct on the part of its soldiers is examined and dealt with on this basis.

He added that in certain cases, investigations are opened with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Military Police when misconduct is suspected that justifies such action.

The Israeli war on Gaza, which began on October 7, left tens of thousands of Palestinians martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues the war despite its demand by the International Court of Justice for immediate measures to prevent genocide and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
