The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called on the International Committee of the Red Cross and international human rights institutions to document the arbitrary and systematic Israeli occupation violations against Palestinian prisoners, to bring them before the competent courts and to hold those responsible accountable.

The movement said in a statement issued today, Monday, “We call on the Red Cross and human rights institutions to stand up to their responsibilities towards the violations and deprivation of Palestinian female prisoners in the occupation prisons, including malnutrition and medical neglect, which are carried out in an arbitrary and systematic manner.”

The day before yesterday, Saturday, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said in a statement that “80 Palestinian female prisoners in the Israeli Damon prison are being subjected to torture, starvation, and harsh detention conditions.”

Since the outbreak of the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, the Israeli occupation army has intensified its military operations in the West Bank and increased the pace of incursions and raids into towns and camps, leaving dozens of martyrs and hundreds of detainees.

Israel detains more than 7,800 Palestinians in its prisons, including 80 female prisoners, and violations against detainees have escalated since the beginning of the war on Gaza, according to institutions concerned with prisoners’ affairs.

For the 87th day, the Israeli occupation is waging an aggression against Gaza, which as of Sunday left 21,822 martyrs, 56,451 wounded, massive infrastructure destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to the Gaza Strip authorities and the United Nations.
