The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced its approval of an Egyptian proposal to form a “community support committee” to administer the Gaza Strip after talks it held in Cairo with the National Liberation Movement (Fatah).
The movement said in a statement, today, Thursday, that its delegation concluded its meetings in the Egyptian capital, where it held “an in-depth dialogue with the Fatah movement about forming a committee to manage the Gaza Strip on the path to implementing the comprehensive agreements agreed upon nationally to achieve national unity and completely end the division and its multiple effects.”
The statement added that the delegation informed “the movement’s approval of the proposal submitted by our brothers in Egypt regarding the formation of a community support committee through comprehensive national mechanisms.”
The movement indicated that its delegation also held a meeting with the leadership of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, where the overall political and field developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank were discussed.

The delegation also held “meetings with a number of Palestinian national and legal figures present in Cairo, where they were briefed on the meetings that took place with the Fatah movement and the movement’s position towards the Egyptian proposal within the national framework,” according to the statement.
The discussions on managing the Gaza Strip and ending the Palestinian division came in light of international attempts to revive negotiations on a prisoner exchange deal and a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
The war of extermination continues in the Gaza Strip for the 14th month in a row, with more than 150,000 Palestinians martyred and injured, most of them children and women, and the majority of the civilian infrastructure in the Strip, including homes, schools and hospitals, was destroyed.
