In short

Zidane in Algeria ? : after the selectors’ waltz, it’s time for the rumors ball. In search of a new coach for the Fennecs after the departure of Djamel Belmadi, the Algerian federation is active and would have thought of the French legend Zinedine Zidane, according to the newspaper L’Équipe. The 1998 Ballon d’Or has declined. The other avenues to take over the team are Hervé Renard, Vahid Halilhodzic, Vladimir Petkovic and Jorge Sampaoli.

Guinea strike : the Guinean players had refused to train in order to protest against the non-payment of a bonus estimated at around 9,200 euros. A solution was finally found after this movement. The Guineans are due to face Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

Angola loses three players : on the eve of his round of 16 of the African Cup against Namibia, the coach of the Black Antelopes announced that he had lost three players: Nurio Fortuna (injury), Loide Augusto (disciplinary reason) and Benedito Mambuene, who preferred to leave the group rather than being a substitute.

Today’s statement

Rigobert Song, Cameroon coach: “When you know you are in danger, you are no longer in danger. We are no longer in danger. We are well prepared. The match against Nigeria is a risky match. I have reached a point where I do not calculate nothing. We must correct what needs to be corrected. We must do everything possible to win the match against Nigeria. We must take the Nigeria team seriously. And when we come across a serious team, we are serious too .”
