Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was in Beirut to reiterate his country’s support for Lebanon. He also called for stability in Syria.
This is the first visit by a European leader to Lebanon after the ceasefire with Israel.
The Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was in Beirut this Monday to meet his Lebanese counterpartNajib Mikati, to inform him of Athens’ commitment to supporting Lebanon. The two men also discussed the political situation in Syria.
”Syria must be inclusive, encompassing all groups while addressing the country’s current fragmentation. Because the Syrian people have also suffered greatly and must not be subjected to further displacement. And of course, we hope that future stability in Syria will also allow the millions of refugees who have left the country, many of whom are currently in Lebanon, to return home.” explains Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Earlier today, the Greek Prime Minister met with the Patriarch of Antioch, Johnand recognized the central role of the Patriarchate in this region affected by fighting for several months.
