International newspapers dealt with developments in the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, between optimism about the proximity of an agreement and fears of obstacles that may fail diplomatic efforts to end more than a year of the devastating war.
The Israeli “Jerusalem Post” indicated the possibility of reaching the ceasefire and the liberation of the prisoners despite the amendments requested by Hamas to the calm proposal.
The newspaper is based on an Israeli source familiar with the talks confirming that the gaps with Hamas are narrow and the differences may be resolved in one day because they are not great.
In the same context, the American New York Times quotes a specialized researcher that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu -wanted by the International Criminal Court -owes President Donald Trump, so his acceptance of a ceasefire proposal in Gaza is expected despite the opposition of his partners.
The researcher added that she does not exclude a full ceasefire agreement, and pointed out that Netanyahu meets Trump with this visit, eclipsing what he considers a victory over Iran, unlike the previous visit in which he seemed tense.
Hamas conditions
On the other hand, the Israel newspaper Hume highlights that Hamas will impose a heavy price in exchange for the release of prisoners during the current negotiations.
The newspaper highlights the warnings of the Netanyahu government that Hamas may use concessions made by Netanyahu to undermine the achievements of the army, which endangers forces in Gaza in danger amid talking about concessions on the mechanism of distributing aid and military withdrawal.
