Dozens of people also gathered in Warsaw, Poland, to call on the European Union to support Ukraine.
“Almost the entire Ukrainian territory is constantly bombed, there are many victims, many dead. They are usually civilians, and unfortunately, Europe is still sleeping. We are here today in front of a European Union institution to wake up Europe“, explains Natalia Panchenko, organizer of the demonstration and member of the Euromaidan Warsaw movement.
A few days ago, Germany announced that it had delivered military equipment to Ukraine. But the German Chancellor recognizes it: European aid is insufficient.
“As important as Germany’s contribution is, it will not be enough to guarantee Ukraine’s security in the long term. I therefore ask our allies in the European Union to also intensify their efforts in favor of Ukraine. Arms deliveries planned for Ukraine by the majority of EU member states are too low“, declared the German Chancellor.
On the front, after the failure of their counter-offensive, the Ukrainian soldiers tried, as best they could, to maintain morale.
“If we do not protect our homeland, no one will do it for us. No one will come to fight for us. If we want to live in our country, independently and democratically, it is our duty“, explains Vitaly Cherhavy, deputy unit commander in the Kharkiv region.
In February 2024, the conflict will enter its third year.
