Retired Israeli General Yitzhak Brik said that Israel is far from achieving victory and that militants of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) are still in the tunnels and have prepared supplies for two years.
He stressed that most of the tunnels in Gaza are still in the hands of Hamas, and the army is lying about their destruction, noting that the army finds it difficult to control Gaza for a long period because its strength has greatly diminished.
He said that the Chief of Staff was a failure, had lost the confidence of the army’s senior leadership, and should have left.
Brik is called the “Prophet of Anger” in Israel, because he predicted an attack launched by thousands of Palestinian militants on the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip, similar to the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood.
Warning of the collapse of Israel
Earlier, Brick said – in an article for Haaretz newspaper – that the insistence of some in Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to continue this losing war, and their belief that a ceasefire means defeat and surrender, is a danger to Israel and not to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
Brik said that the false claim that the withdrawal from Gaza will strengthen Hamas and lead to another attack that will cause losses greater than what occurred on October 7 is based on a misunderstanding of what is happening in Gaza.
He explained that the continuation of the war will weaken the Israeli army, which is already suffering, as every day it suffers deaths and injuries, while Hamas has already refilled its ranks with young fighters aged 17 and 18.
General Brik said that the war goals of overthrowing Hamas and liberating all prisoners under military pressure have not been achieved, and if the raids with unclear goals continue at the same pace, “we will not be able to overthrow Hamas, but rather we will collapse and be exhausted.”
The general also warned that Israel would collapse within one year if the war of attrition against Hamas and Lebanese Hezbollah continued.
