General Valery Zaluzhny was awarded the title of “Hero of Ukraine”. His replacement, Oleksandr Syrsky, said the Ukrainian army faced new challenges.
General Valery Zalouzhny, who has just been replaced at the head of the Ukrainian armed forces, has been decorated with the title of “Hero of Ukraine”, according to a presidential decree published Friday. During the ceremony, Volodymyr Zelensky underlined his “distinguished personal merit in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”.
The new head of the armed forces, appointed the day before, Oleksandr Syrsky, declared that Ukraine was facing new challenges and that its army must improve the rotation of troops on the front lines and better exploit the power of new technologies to get out of the positional war that has lasted for several months.
On the front, Ukrainian troops claim to have suffered 91 Russian attacks including 49 air strikes and 52 rocket attacks on military positions and residential areas. In the Sumy region, 2 civilians were killed and 4 others injured. A farm and a warehouse were damaged.
