Bombings, fighting and deaths all day in Rafah.

This Tuesday, the Israeli army announced that it had taken control of the Palestinian side of the border crossing with Egypt and had killed 20 Hamas fighters.

The Palestinian Islamist movement, through the voice of one of its leaders, Osama Hamdan, openly criticized Israel and indicated that “The ball was now in Benjamin Netanyahu’s court, and he held the key to the release of the hostages.

Benjamin Netanyahu responded a little later that “Israel will not allow Hamas to reestablish its evil rule in the Gaza Strip, Israel will not allow it to reestablish its military capabilities to continue working for our destruction. Israel cannot accept a proposal that endangers the security of our citizens and the future of our country.”

At the same time, an Israeli delegation is in Cairo, responsible for negotiating a truce but also the release of the hostages

The United States has pressed Israel to reopen the Rafah border crossing, as well as the Kerem Shalom crossing, also located in the south of the Gaza Strip. This should be done tomorrow for the second according to the White House spokesperson.

The Rafah crossing point is in fact the main access route to the enclave for humanitarian aid.

And while nearly a million and a half Gazans have taken refuge in Rafah to escape the fighting, the population, left to their own devices, now no longer knows where to go.
